Who we are
PrintFromHere (printfromhere.com) is a print release service provided by the library and operated by the City of Riverview, Michigan, IT Department. It lets you send documents to the library from your phone or computer, then pay for and collect your printout at the front desk. Questions about this policy: the library.
What we collect
- Your name and email address, so staff can find your job and we can email your pickup code.
- The files you upload, and the print options you choose (copies, sides, pages).
- Job details: your pickup code, the number of pages and sheets, the price, when you sent it, and when it was printed, cancelled or expired, plus the initials of the staff member who handled it.
- A scrambled (hashed) version of your internet address, used only to stop abuse, such as one connection sending hundreds of jobs. We don't keep your actual address.
We don't use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don't build profiles of patrons.
How we use it
Only to run the print service: to convert your files for printing, show you a preview and price, email you about your job (such as your pickup code), let library staff find and print your job, and produce basic totals such as pages printed and money collected. We don't send marketing email, and we never sell or rent your information.
Files from Google Drive
If you choose Choose from Google Drive, you sign in with Google and grant PrintFromHere the
permission "See, edit, create and delete only the specific Google Drive files you use with this app"
(the drive.file scope). In practice:
- We can only open the files you pick in Google's file picker. We can't see, list or search anything else in your Drive.
- We only read the files, to print them. We don't change, create or delete anything in your Google Drive.
- Your browser downloads each file you pick directly from Google. Google Docs, Sheets, Slides and Drawings are converted to PDF by Google during that download. Your browser then uploads the file to PrintFromHere, where it's handled exactly like any other upload (see below).
- Your Google sign-in stays in your browser. The access Google gives expires within about an hour and is never sent to or stored on our servers. We don't receive your Google password.
- We use Google data only to print your job. We don't use it for advertising, don't sell it, don't use it to train AI or machine-learning models, and don't transfer it to anyone except as needed to print your job or as required by law. Library staff see your file only to print it for you, at your request.
PrintFromHere's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
You can remove PrintFromHere's access at any time at myaccount.google.com/connections.
How long we keep it
- Files you upload (including files from Google Drive) are deleted automatically: about an hour after printing (so staff can reprint a jammed page), immediately if you or staff cancel, or after 72 hours, not counting days the library is closed, if you don't pick them up. Uploads you start but never send are deleted within a day.
- Job records (name, email, pickup code, file names, page counts, price, dates and staff initials, but no files) are kept for 90 days for the library's records. After 90 days, your name, email address, pickup code and file names are permanently removed. Only anonymous numbers remain (the date, page and sheet counts, the amount paid, and the staff initials), for the library's yearly statistics.
Who else handles your information
- Cloudflare hosts this website and stores files and job records for us, sends our emails, and runs the bot check that protects the upload page.
- Google, only if you choose to use Google Drive, under Google's own privacy policy.
These providers process information only on our behalf. We may also disclose information if required by law. Library records may be subject to the Michigan Library Privacy Act.
Security
All connections to printfromhere.com are encrypted. Files are stored privately and can only be opened by the print service and by signed-in library staff. Nothing prints until you're at the desk, so your pages don't sit in a printer tray.
Your choices
- Cancel a job, and delete its files, with the Cancel this job link in your confirmation email.
- Ask us to remove your details from job records sooner, or ask what we hold about you, by emailing the library or asking at the front desk.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
